The idea of church spurs many different feelings for many different people. It has been a divisive topic for as long as religion has been in the construct of humanity. For some, it is the forefront in everything that they do, for others, it is a call to arms (both figuratively and literally) to silence the opposing view. We’ve seen great people do amazing works for the betterment of humankind and we’ve seen wars waged over interpretations of scriptures. This week on The Malliard Report, Jim brings on a guest that deals with this first hand on a daily basis. This week Jim welcomes Kelley Ahlers to the show.
Kelley is the Director of Family Ministries Grace United Methodist Church in Wilmington NC. “Kelley Ahlers joined Grace UMC in October of 2016. Kelley comes from a deep history of the ministry. She started in youth ministry 22 years ago when she assisted a church plant with her father in Emerald Isle. Her and her husband Corey have five children of their own and enjoy spending time on the softball field, playing music, and in the mission field. “
This is a fantastic episode and Kelley does an amazing job at addressing some of the common issues that face the church today. Everything from social issues to overcoming the problems that churches saw with covid. She is not afraid of any questions and takes them head-on. If you find yourself in the Wilmington area stop by Grace UMC and say “hello” to Kelley or head over to her page (gracedowntown.church/Kelley-ahlers) where she has links to all of her social accounts.
